Windows Vista's File Explorer automatically chooses folder type based on its contents. But this is a little troublesome. Such as a Download folder will change its default to a Music folder if you get a few downloaded MP3s there! To get rid of this err, follow the ways:
1. First of all find the regedit.exe from the C Drive (C:/PROGRAM FILES) and execute it.
2. Now browse to 'HCU\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell'.
3. Then delete the 'Bags' subkey and then create your new Bags key at the same location.
Create a key naming it 'AllFolders' under the Bags, and a key called 'Shell' beneath that.
4. Now Click it to open 'HCU\Software\Classes\LocalSettings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\ Bags\AllFolders\Shell'.
5. As soon as you are done Right-click the right-hand pane and choose 'New | String Value' and name this as 'FolderType'.
6. Then double-click on FolderType and set its value to 'NotSpecified'.
7. Okay so now Vista is your obedient friend now and will not assign folder types itself!
Disclaimer: Before doing any change to regedit, always create a System Restore Point to Avoid any data loss.
